15 Years – A Journey of Hope from a Wonderful Woman, Nhung Huynh

Fifteen years may not seem like a long time, but it has been more than enough for me to witness the incredible changes in the lives of countless children—and to experience a profound transformation in my own heart as well.

I have journeyed with GIBTK for the past 15 years

I still remember the first day I joined the organization Giving It Back To Kids; I was just a shy and insecure girl. But thanks to the guidance of incredible leaders like our President Robert, the passionate founder, and Ms. Tam, a dedicated leader, I am no longer the hesitant and timid version of myself from those early days. They not only gave me the opportunity to work but also instilled in me the belief that I could, and that I was worthy.

My very first days with the kids at GIBTK

I found the courage to step out of my shell, and now, I am incredibly happy to be living true to my ideals, the best version of myself that I once dreamed of. I am truly grateful to my teammates in the GIBTK family. We have grown together, loved, and empathized with each other.

Most importantly, we have always strived to develop a serving culture and build long-lasting relationships, not only with the families we support but also within the cherished GIBTK family itself.

A place I call youth, a place I call family

Giving It Back To Kids is my youth and my second home. The more I stay, the more I realize that this is not just a job, but a journey of love, of serving hearts, and of deep human connections. Every family circumstance that our organization supports is not just temporary assistance, but a long-term journey, a relationship built on empathy, persistence, and love.

It is my honor to walk alongside our sponsors

I am deeply grateful to the sponsors from distant lands, those who not only bring material support but also carry profound love and sincere connections with the children. They do not come just once and then leave; for many years, they continue to return like family, visiting as if they were coming home. They listen to every story, share their own experiences of overcoming adversity to inspire the kids.

What is particularly moving is the moment they become emotional when they hear the children say, "I’ve graduated, "I’ve gotten married," and when the children share that it was the encouragement from those sponsors years ago that gave them the strength to keep going, never give up, and become their true selves.

Over the past 15 years, I have lost count of how many lives our organization has accompanied and transformed through difficult circumstances. One thing I’ve learned over all these years is that love is never one-way. We come to give, but we receive so much more in return.

These are lessons of courage, perseverance, and gratitude. Handmade cards, heartfelt hugs, or simply the quiet, grateful gaze after a conversation – these moments have become the driving force that keeps us striving every day.

Meaningful things always bring me joy

The most beautiful miracle is that the very children we once supported have now grown up and returned to Giving It Back To Kids to share their own stories and inspire the next generation.

Kids once helped by GIBTK returning to inspire the next generation

I feel so proud witnessing their growth and strength as they tell the younger kids, "I was once just like you." Those simple words carry an incredible power—offering encouragement and hope, reminding the kids that with perseverance and effort, they too can overcome challenges and change their lives.

Looking back on the journey, I feel both proud and grateful to have been a part of Giving It Back To Kids. I am truly thankful and proud to have had the opportunity to walk alongside and witness the miracles that have blossomed from what once seemed like the smallest acts.

We're very pleased to help children in difficult circumstances as part of its mission. Become an important part of our work by contacting us at robert@givingitbacktokids.org or visiting our website: gibtk.org.
